  • By any chance, did he have a son, John, born in January of 1860?

John Murray was my great grandfather who emigrated to the states.  My genealogy links me to Longford and Roscommon.

    Thanks

  • Thomas is my great grandfather. We have his baptism on 15 Dec 1828 in the Parish of Athlone and Drum. He lived for some time in the America Townland. Was transported to Australia as a convict in 1851. He married Mary Ann Smith, daughter of convicts Mary Ann Kingham and Joseph Smithton 2 Aug 1858. There were eleven children in the marriage, but no John. Can you let me know your line of ancestry to Thomas, as I mat be able to assist further. Cheers, Teresa

  • Hi Theresa

    Guess we are related!

    I am in Melbourne, Australia.

Thomas John Murray is my great-great grandfather on my father’s maternal side.

I am thrilled to receive your message because I didn’t have a definitive birth date or place of birth. Does that mean you have his parents names as well?

I had imagined Thomas came over because of the Potato Famine but looks like we have another convict in the family!

I’d love some more information on our ancestor. So glad I joined this site. I don’t have a John amongst the children by the way!

    Regards Linda Jones
