Tom was born in Oulart, Co. Wexford on April 15th 1860 to Matthew Murphy and Mary Doyle.He had 1 brother and 2 sisters.
As a young man he came to Poulregan, Castlebridge to work on a farm. In 1879 he married Anastasia Daly and came to live in her house in Glassganny Lower.He and Anastasia had 8 children , 6 boys and 2 girls.In 1909 Wexford Co. Council built them a new cottage on a one acre site, cottage number1623. This meant a big improvement for Tom , his wife and family. They now kept a cow and a pig and had plenty space for vegetables and fruit trees.
Tom had 2 lovely collie dogs who used to meet him on his way home from work. Tom was a humble man and was loved by all especially his many grandchildren. He died in 1943and was buried in Curracloe Cemetery as the grave in Screen was full where his wife had been buried.
