Thomas Normoyle lived with his three brothers and their families in Rower More, Adare, County Limerick. According to Grifith's Valuation, by 1850, they leased most of Rower More and parts of the surrounding townlands including Rower Beg and Tough. The first record of the family is a Sustainability Loan Fund record for Thomas' older brother, Cornelius, in 1828. Family history recorded in the 1930s as part of a national school project indicates that Thomas was one of the leaders of the local White Boy movement in Adare, and that the family helped members of the Irish Brotherhood escape after the 1867 Fenian Uprising. At least 4 of Thomas' children (David, Mary Ann, Johanna and Honora) emigrated to Australia and New Zealand in the 1860s - 70s. His son Thomas along with some of his brother, Cornelius', decendents were living on the property in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. His daughter Johanna married Michael John Hayes in Croom on 21/2/1865 - they emigrated to Sydney Australia.
