Edit profile to show place of migration

Timothy Flaherty, my maternal grandfather, was born 24th June 1877 at Spa, Co. Kerry, to Michael Flaherty & Ellen O'Sullivan.

The 1901 census shows him living with his mother and siblings at 11 Curragraigue, Blennerville, Kerry while his future wife Margaret Prende(r)ville was residing at 3 Reidy's Lane Tralee. They married 22nd January 1910 and are recorded on the 1911 census as living at 3.2 Reidy's Lane, Tralee with Margarets parents entry as 3.1 Reidy's Lane so assume they were house sharing. They had 11 children 3 of whom died in infancy.

In the years that I knew Grandad he worked at the C.W.S. bacon factory at the top of Rock St. Tralee as a meat curer. He lived in Reidy's Terrace, Rock St. Tralee. An article in the local press recognising his retirement and the 50 years he had spent working at C.W.S. also noted that he had worked as a labourer on the construction of the building.

Timothy died in June 1973 followed in October the same year by his wife of 63 years.
