Denis Kelleher from Carhue? Coachford married Eliza Mahoney

Their son, Timothy Kelleher married Margaret Sullivan (1870-1962) from Shanakiel, Kilcorney. Timothy played in the Aghabullogue team that won All Ireland. Timothy died in 1944 in Kilcorney.

Margaret's parents were Cornelius and Margaret Coakley (1836-1894).

Family folklore is that both Margaret's were knitting jerseys for the Aghabulogue team!

  • Hi my name is Mary-Ellen Gallard,

I am matching to people with DNA who has this very same family. I don't know how long ago you posted this ancestor of yours, but you may be the person or related to this person I share DNA with on Ancestry. Either way I would like to work on how I am related to this family and many others with the same surname as my mother who was born in Kanturk Hospital in 1946. According to my uncle the family had two residences one in Shronebeha near Banteer which I have found in 1901 and 1911 census and the other Clonmeen I don't know whether it was the townland of Clonmeen North or South. The other areas known in history where the O'Sullivans lived in Limerick, Tullylease, Millstreet, Drominagh, Cork City, Bantry, Schull, Bear Island, Ardea, Eyeries, Whiddy Island,  Kenmare, Cappanacoss or sometimes spelt with uss or ush on the end instead of coss and many more. All of those I have mentioned except Drominagh so far I am matching DNA to families from all those areas. The reason I am so interested in your ancestor is because the person on Ancestry who I match to is matching to  a numer of closer cousins who have private trees and have not responded to my queries. There may be others connected that might answer, but I find I am wasting a lot of time contacting people who don't respond.

    Kind regards

    Mary-Ellen Gallard
