My great grandfather, Walter, was born on 25 January 1881 in Petitcodiac, Westmorland, New Brunswick, Canada, to his father Robert Young and mother Selina Alward. Robert Young, born February 28, 1854, immigrated to New Brunswick from his native Dublin. He was the son of James Young and Nancy Short of that city. He may have immigrated with a brother. Robert was a farmer, and member of the United Baptist church. We have not found any information on either James or Nancy.We surmise that the family may have been Irish Scots.
