I have found a newspaper clipping from the Sydney Herald mentioning William Brophy and that he was a Cannught lad.. Now to find him there.
William appears to have been a Constable in Sydney around 1837-38. He was living in a defacto relationship with a Mary White. Various Trove newspaper clippings attest to this. William and Mary had a home invasion in 1845 which went to court but it appears by 1846 she had left William and married, in her maiden name White, a John Callinan in Maitland. I have not been able to find what happened to William Brophy after 1845. A William Brophy died in 1844 but that was not my William but a convict, not of the Governor Ready as stated but off the Larkin 2. Any help with this would be appreciated.
