William married Rosetta McCormick at Ballymacward in 1843 - both had attended Sunday School at Ahascragh when they were younger, although only Rosetta is believed to have been born here. William left to join the Army two years later and spent most of his career in Asia, India, Crimea and China. His wife occasionally joined him. Rosetta’s mother was Catherine Greene believed from Ballymacward. Her father died in 1831 at 50yrs of age (Ahascragh). After retiring from the army he returned home and joined the Galway militia - living with Rosetta at The Barracks in Loughrea. After his death in 1878, Rosetta was known to have a shop on Main Street in Loughrea. Both her parents died in Ahascragh - father, William McCormick was employed as a process server.
William Cullen’s parents are unknown. Records state he was either born in Tynagh or in Kiltoghart parish(co Leitrim)
