William was Australia bound on board The Great Australian clipper leaving Liverpool Jun 1862 arriving 16 Sept 1862 age 21. Traveling on board was Ellen Ryan from Templederry, Tipperary, Ireland. Also on board the clipper were William's sisters Anne, and Elizabeth Healy. William & Ellen married at The Church of St Alipuis, Ballarat on 6 July 1863.
Other known siblings who travelled to Australia and settling firstly in Ballarat, Victoria were James 1829, Elizabeth, Timothy, Anne 1835, Margaret. Mary stayed in Kildare and married Christopher Quinn. Other siblings not known of their journey.
William and Ellen farmed at Warrenheip, and later Rocklyn, near Creswick, with considerable success and where they raised their 14 children. William retired from farming and purchased a house at 3 Corbett St, Ballarat East. He passed away aged 80 yrs on 12 May 1918. Both William and Ellen are buried in the Old Ballarat Cemetery. william and Ellen have many descendants as do the other siblings who ventured to Victoria, Australia.
