  • Hello there... I'm searching this family tree for my husband David Korstrom (Doak) from his mother's side.  Through family records we have discovered his grandfather x4 is John Doak/Anne Jane...grandfather x3 John Doak and .Jame Atwell.  Loki good to add more and confirm William Doaks history

  • Hi, Sue,

John Doak & Jane Atwell are also my 3g-grandparents.  This would make your husband and I 4th cousins.  In fact, I have David in my tree already.  His great-grandfather, George Joseph Doak was the brother of my great-grandmother, Mary Doak Hunter.  It's quite possible my dad played with David's mother as a kid.  My Granddad, Ham, packed up the kids every weekend and drove to Warren from Winnipeg.  I know Dad's mentioned Les Doak in the past.

I'm happy to share information with you.  You can contact me at sm-jh (at) hotmail.com.

  • Oops...mixed up a generation. John and Jane (Atwell) are my 2g-grandparents, so David and I are 3rd cousins.

  • Hi Joan...so happy to connect. Are you in Canada and who are your mom and dad??  I am trying to go further back to William Doak.  We discovered papers that Belva (Doak) David's  mother had claiming that John Doak born 1820 was notified to claim an estate inheritance in 1888 from the "Douglas/ Hamilton estate"..  It was not able to be claimed as John could not return to claim it and it was returned to the Chancery in Dublin in 1920.   Our curiosity is not the long gone "inheritance" but a possible Scottish connection.  If this was true...did the Doaks originate in Scotland ending up in Ireland.  Any more light you can shed would be great.
