Son of William O'Dougherty (1751-1802) and Hannah Moira Patton (1751-1803). Migrated to USA in 1806 on ship Brutus. Settled in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Married an American woman and had one son, Mathew Dougherty who was born in 1810. Fought in the War of 1812 and was 3/4th disabled from war wounds. Transfered his war pension from Pennsylvania to Maryland in 1822. Died in 1822. His son was raised by an aunt. His wife and what happened to her is unknown.
