When William English was born in 1787 in Mitchelstown, Cork, Ireland, his father, Phillip, was 37 and his mother, Mariam, was 32. He married Margaret Clancy in 1806 in Cork, Cork, Ireland. They had eight children in 17 years. He died on April 29, 1852, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at the age of 65, and was buried in Kenosha, Wisconsin
