William Henry was born mid summer 1770. He said he was from Sligo. He was well educated, reportedly with joining and carpentry and boat building ability. He was sent as a missionary to Tahiti, arriving there in 1797. He married Sarah Maiben Hayes, and had 4 children by her. George b.1795, Sarah b.1797, Samuel Pinder b.1800, and Eleanor. He left Tahiti in 1852 and retired to Sydney where he died in 1859.
