William is my maternal 5th great grandfather, through his daughter Elizabeth (Huggins) Hedding (1825-1854). There are conflicting sources about the life of William and his children, however this family was definitely settled in the United States between 1831 and 1854, which contradicts the English census of a family having the same names.

Acording to naturalization records, William was born in Drumart (Killashandra), Ireland, around 1794. He later immigrated into Clinton County, New York (USA), in 1831. Census records seems to disagree on his exact birth date.
William married Mary Ann Elliott (1801-1855).
William is briefly mentioned in A History of the Town of Chazy by Nell Sullivan & David Martin (published 1970), page 161. He was paid to help build stone walls, some of which are still standing today. Some of his descendants were Freemasons, so it is possible he was too.
His death is sometime after 1870, possibly in Pennsylvania, USA.
