William James Taggart was a son of Robert Taggart and Margaret Anne Abraham and was born in Brookeborough, County Fermanagh. I have been unable to locate any birth records for William and the records I have found, including his Canadian military records have confusing and mixed information with his brother Robert James who was born July 1, 1868.
William had the following siblings:
John Thomas (b 1867); Robert James (b 1868); Anne Jane (b 1871); Elizabeth (b 1873); Margaret (b 1874) and Robert Arthur (b 1878) - all born in Brookeborough.
The family immigrated to Canada in 1886 aboard the Sarmatian (Allan Line) Based on the passenger list William was 17 which would put his date of birth about 1869
William served in the Canadian military during WW1 and died Dec. 14, 1942. Unfortunately his military records appear to be a mixture of his and his brother Robert so there are various dates of birth showing including 1871 & July 1, 1877.
depending on the document his DOB is recorded as 1868; 1869; 1871 and 1877 - and I can't find birth record to substantiate any of these 3rd party indicators.
Any help to locate a birth record for William would be greatly appreciated.
