  • Do you know if his parents where John L. Wray and Mary Anne Long Wray (my ggrandparents)?  They had 12 children and lived in Carricknamanna, Killygordon, Donegal.  6 children immigrated to the U.S.  I have information on those 6 but cannot find information on the 6 (William, Alexander, John James, Mary Anne, Fanny Margaret and Rebecca Jemima (married Robert Henry Kee) who stayed in Ireland.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you, Charline

  • No, Charline...

His parents were William McClintock Wray (born at Rockfield Estate, near Castlefinn, Carnowen, Co. Donegal) and Elizabeth Adams (of Portglenone, Co. Antrim), which is nearby where Wm McC Wray became the life-long minister at the Presbyterian Church in Buckna, Co. Antrim.

    When were your g-grandparents born?

Our Wm. John Adams Wray was born 1841, also in Portglenone (as his mother went home to have her child); his daughter (my g-grandmother) was born 1862.  He did have a son, Rev. John Wray, born 1871, but he married and lived in Canada.

I am quite sure there were other (related) lines with John Wrays in them, but I don't have records for them.

  • Hi Lynne,

My ggrandparents John Wray born 1820 died 1911; Mary Anne Long Wray 1831-abt 1911.  They lived in house #5 Carricknamanna according to the 1901 and 1911 census.  I just posted my grandmother Elizabeth Catherine Wray on this site and have added some information.  I'm posting my grandfather here shortly, Samuel Ellis Roulston.

Good to connect with you again and maybe we will eventually find a connection.
