  • Hi there

I'm looking for evidence of William Keane/Kean's birth in Nenagh circa 1819. As an Enrolled Pensioner Guard, he accompanied my great grandmother, Mary Keane to Western Australia in 1858. Mary was from Gortmore, Terryglass and baptised there in 1834. Her parents were Patrick Keane and Ellen Curry. Apart from having the same surname, William's relationship to Mary is unclear. Family lore has it that he was an older brother, but their respective birthplaces aren't close. He may have been a cousin or an uncle.

Any help or suggestions would be welcome.
