This photo was found in my aunt's box of photos, along with photos of my grandmother and grandfather. My g-grandfather was born in Dublin in 1856 and in 1884 he joined the Cape Police in Kimberley, South Africa. I don't know which year he emigrated.
On his Constabulary form in Kimberley he gave his parents names as John Kennedy and Mary Kennedy (Ward). He said they lived at 12 Grafton Street. I can't seem to pick them up in the census.
My question is, I think this might be my g-grandfather William Kennedy. I seem to think he was in the RIC before he emigrated.
Could anyone assist me with this photo please. I'm not sure if it is military?
Thanks so much
Kind regards, Brigid
