Family papers give his parents as Michael Macdonald and Mary Brownlee (Ireland?). William married Isabella Wallace on 25th Nov 1870, in Edinburgh.After death of Isabella he married Hannah Wallace on 5th May1891, in Edinburgh. After death of Hannah he married Joan Catherine Gifford on 9th June 1893, in Edinburgh.On his Marriage Certificate to Joan he was recorded as a Jeweller, in 10 South Clerk St, Edinburgh. He had 1 son, William Gifford Macdonald in 1894, and 2 daughters, Margaret Stewart Macdonald in 1896, and Mary Brownlee Macdonald, in 1898.
Little is known of his life in Ireland before 1870, and any assistance to expand our knowledge would be appreciated greatly.
