William is my Grandfather. His children always thought he was born in Kanturk but on the UK 1921 Census I see he states he was born in Banteer. He left Ireland and migrated to Mountain Ash, South Wales, UK where he met and married my Grandfather. It seems he never went back to Ireland though was in correspondence with a family in Kanturk who used to send him the Cork Advertiser Newspaper and send Shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day. A cousin thinks one of the people in Kanturk was a lady named May who was thought to be the daughter of another person who William described as his sister, but who wasn't a biological sister. My Uncle apparently visited that family in the late 1940s and someone visited my Grandmother in the early 1950s after my Grandfather had died. I am trying to find his birth (years of 1880-1885). It would help if I knew his Mother's Maiden name! His father is stated to be John Murphy on Grandparents Marriage Certificate. Anyone who might have information has long since died. Should have asked questions earlier! Thanks for reading this.
