The Acheson family (Church of Ireland) estate was at Cavetown near Croghan, county Roscommon where the family held 300 acres. At the time of the first Ordnance Survey the Acheson family were acting as agents for the Mulloy of Oakport estate.
William Sandy Acheson of Lugnashammer house (born in Cavetown) was a Cesspayer and served on the Grand Jury. He died age 66 at Lugnashammer.
Lugnashammer House, Croghan (still extant) is an excellent example of a 19th Century farmyard outbuildings in this district.
