General Info:

Miss Margaret Elliott was postmistress at Annalore Post Office for almost half a century before her death at the age of ninety years in February 1959. It was believed she was one of the oldest postal officials in the country and only retired a few months befor her death. In her obituary it is stated," She carried out her duties with meticulous care and efficiency despite her remarkable age. Her quaint little ivy-covered home, where she conducted the post office, was a well kept building, which often formed an interesting subject for visiting photographers and painters, and added considerably to the beauty of Annalore." She is buried at Killeevan Protestant Church , of which a snow covered scene appears also on CNB. The lady on the bicycle stated to be Mrs. Pat Slowey, was Eilish Finnegan of Corkeeran, Newbliss who married Patrick Slowey, Annaghkilly, at St. Livinus's, Killeevan on Tuesday 18th October 1955.
