This castle is located in County Galway.
It was built in the early 13th century.
Moylough Castle is an example of a Hall House, a type of castle mostly associated with Galway, Mayo, Limerick, and North Tipperary. As is typical of a Hall House, this building is three storeys high with its entrance on the first floor. The ground floor was not for occupation. Its purposes were defence and storage. It was from the first floor up that people actually lived.
