Emly (Tipperary)

  • Is this building still standing? We missed seeing it when we visited in 2015. It might have been the family church for my great grandparents, Daniel Crowe and Catherine Humphries. They emigrated to Upstate New York around 1850. It is my understanding that the family farm still exists but the current owners don't allow Crowe descendants to visit.

  • This building is still standing and is currently used as the parish/town meeting center.  It was locked when I was there 2 years ago so I wasn't inside but if you look at the Emly Historical Society website you might see pictures/videos of some of their functions there that may give you and idea of what the inside looks like now.  My great great grandparents emigrated in the mid 1860s and this is the building where their marriages/baptisms took place.

  • Thank you for your quick comment and information. I will hopefully be able to visit Emly again on my second trip to Ireland originally scheduled for Sept. 2020 but obviously postponed. It is certainly the home church of my Crowe ancestors
