The village of Drinagh is located in the townland of Paddock. The village was little more than a Roman Catholic Church and an RIC barracks in the earliest OSI 6" historical map from about 1840. The picture above shows the village in about 1895 and the census associated with the townland from 1901 also shown. At the turn of the century the old church remains in the village and can be seen in the photo at the bottom left above. This church was later replaced in 1932 by the new church shown top right built on the site of the previous RIC barrack. There are 2 Connolly families mentioned in the census, both of these buildings were public houses with one remaining open to this day, The Gaelic Bar.
The National School building is shown in the middle right photo, the Teachers at the time were father and son mentioned in the census in 1901 as Daniel and John Nyhan who lived in the house opposite the old school building. This school was built in 1864 and used up until 1966 when it was replaced by the new school located west of the new church building.

There are 2 shops listed in the 1901 census, one run by Mary Hurley which would later be the Post Office, and another run by Lena Collins.
