My wife's grandfather Samuel Hugh Regan at the age of 16 years, appears in the 1911 census as a servant in this house.
The Gubbins family, landed gentry, are from Co. Limerick and bought the Co. Cork estate in Dunkettle in the late 19th century.
Samuel Hugh is a northern protestand from Greyabbey in Co.Down. We have no idea why he should be working as a servant so far from home.
Most of his family were tailors, and some of them were reported to have travelled north from Cork.
