Rosbercon Castle is located in the civil parish of the same name. It must be noted that although this parish was once considered to be part of County Kilkenny, it is now part of County Wexford, a change that was made for administrative purposes.
The Castle was built around the year 1700. Though it has machicolations, it is more correct to call this a country house than a castle as these features were decorative rather than defensive.
The Castle was associated with the Graves family, prominent members of society at the time.
Renovations took place at the Castle in the 1850's and the 1900's.
Today the Castle is still quite grand, set back from the road on landscaped grounds.
The Rosbercon Castle has been maintained to a good standard and is still occupied today, having been bought in recent years for just under a quarter of a million euro.
