In 1822, according to information posted in the Castlenode entry on this website, Thomas Morton of Castlenode had a farmhouse at Rouane/Ruane/Rooaun. It is his son, Charles Hawkes Morton, Esq., J.P., who is credited with building the large home pictured in the attached photograph. Family notes refer to this building simply as "Ruane." I don't know if it was locally referred to as Ruane House, Ruane Lodge, or something else entirely.

Charles Hawkes Morton never married. He shared his large home for many years with his widowed sister Thomasina Anna Elizabeth Morton O'Flaherty, who continued to live there after his death. Charles Hawkes Morton died at Ruane in 1923 and Thomasina O'Flaherty died there in 1942, at the advanced age of 93.
