Sligo Townhall

The Sligo Townhall was built between 1860 and 1870. It was designed by William Hague in the Italianate Palazzo style. There are many details and features which make this a prime example of the style, such as the round-headed window openings with pointed arches. 

The Townhall is located on Quay Street in Sligo town. It is set back off the road, which provides the building with an increased sense of importance. 

The site of the Sligo Townhall was previously occupied by a 17th century barracks, and before that, a 13th century tower house, which shows that the site was considered a place of significance long before construction of the Townhall began.
