The Battle of Ballinamuck took place in County Longford on the 8th of September 1798.
The battle was part of the 1798 Rebellion in Ireland.
It was fought between General Humbert on the French/Irish side, and General Lake on the British side.
The battle was a short one, taking in total less than an hour before Humber surrendered.
It is believed that just over 500 men died.
