The Chester Beatty LIbrary first opened in Dublin in 1950.

The library contains the private collection of American miner, Sir Alfred Chester Beatty.

Chester Beatty was the first non Irish person to be granted honorary Irish citizenship.

The collection contains books, paintings, and manuscripts from across the world, with a strong focus on Asia and the Middle East.

The new Chester Beatty Library is located in Dublin Castle and is open to the public for tours.
