The IRA stopped a train carrying jurors to the assizes at Waterford and made them all get off. The train was sent on its way, and a flying column of the IRA set an ambush at Ballyvoile, waiting for British soldiers to investigate. Shots were exchanged between them at Durrow station, and three British soldiers and one IRA man was wounded, but there were no fatalities.
