On the 2nd of February 2001, novelist Edna O'Brien received a lifetime achievement award for her contribution to Irish literature.
The award was given by Irish PEN, the society for Irish writers.
Some of her most famous books include, The Country Girls, In the Forest, and August is a Wicked Month.
