Enda Kenny was elected in the 1975 by-election, following the death of his father Henry, at the age of 24 to the Mayo West constituency. This became the Mayo constituency in 1997.
He served as Minister for Defence, Leader of the Opposition, Minister for Tourism and Trade, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs. He became leader of Fine Gael in 2002 and resigned from the position in 2017.
On the 9th March 2011, Mr Kenny was elected Taoiseach to the 31st Dáil.
