A scene of great excitement, with dirt flinging at the bailiff and boohing by a large crowd, attended the eviction of Martin Hanly, Derrane, Croghan, Co Roscommon, on the estate of Miss Carey-Caddell. A force of 20 police, under District-Inspector McClelland, Boyle, attended. The evicted man and his family sought refuge in a neighbouring house.

The family do not appear on the 1911 Census of Ireland, presumed emigrated.
