Ireland was not the only country to witness mass emigration in the mid 1800's.
On the 7th of May, 1868 a ship from Norway arrived in Limerick City.
The Hannah Parr was a Norwegian emigrant ship bound for Quebec, but not long after setting out into the vast Atlantic Ocean, the ship got into great difficulty as storms almost caused them to sink.
The crew turned the ship around, fearing for their lives.
They took refuge in Limerick where they docked until sufficient repairs could be made to allow the journey to continue.
The passengers and crew were well welcomed in Limerick.
