On the 2nd of December 1984, and ambush took place in the village of Kesh in County Fermanagh.
The ambush was carried out by members of the British armed forces when they lured four members of the Provisional IRA to a restaurant in the village. It was believed that the Provisional IRA were in the midst of an attempted bombing on a patrol of the Royal Ulster Constabulary.
During the attack three men were killed, one SAS soldier, and two members of the Provisional IRA.
