On the 20th of July 1833, the Loretto Nuns came to the town of Navan in County Meath. 

The goal of the order was to provide an education for young girls. 

They lived in St Anne's Convent and in 1836, established a free school for girls there unde the guidance of Mother Paul Finns. 

Today there is stil a Loretto Secondary School in Navan.
