On the 20th of October 1933, the government of the Irish Free State purchased the rights to the song, 'A Soldier's Song' by Peadar Kearney. This song would become the Irish national anthem, 'Amhran na Bhfiann'. The song has strong military and nationalist sentiments and his still sung today as the official anthem of the Irish Republic. The musical notes of the song are also printed throughout the pages of the Irish passport.
