At the 1971 Academy Awards "Ryan's Daughter" nominated for 4 Oscars, won Best Actor in a Supporting Role and Best Cinematography.

Filmed on the Dingle Peninsula and Dunquin Harbour, Co. Kerry, and set in the wake of the 1916 Easter Rising, a married woman in a small Irish village has an affair with a troubled British officer. The movie also had Oscar nominations for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Sound. It also won several other awards including a Golden Globe.
