On the 25th of June 1945, Séan T. O'Kelly was elected as the second President of Ireland. 

The position became available when Douglas Hyde completed his 7 year term in office. 

Hyde decided not to nominate himself for a second term. 

O'Kelly served as President of Ireland until 24th of June 1959, having served 2 full 7 year terms.
