Dublin's fifth (and last) Theatre Royal opened in Hawkins St in 1935 with Seán Lemass and Lord Mayor of Dublin Alfie Byrne officiated at the "Gala Opening". With an audience capacity of 4,000, it was billed as the largest in Europe at that time.
