The RMS Titanic was built for the White Star Line at the Harland & Wolff shipyard in Belfast, Co. Antrim.

On 31 May 1911, the hull of the Titanic was successfully launched and by 31 March 1912, the fitting of the Titanic was complete. 

The Titanic began sea trials at 6 am on the 2nd of April, 1912. It docked in Southhampton the following day, from where it would begin its maiden voyage via Cherbourg and Cobh (then Queenstown) bound for New York
