JUST found out my g-g-grands were married in this town in 1857.  Suggestions for finding information about them and/or their families of origin?

  • Eileen,

There is a tree on Ancestry that suggest that Patrick died in January 1884 in Ballykerogue, Kilrossanty, Waterford, Ireland at age 64. I found the death record on Irishgenealogy (free website).

  • In 1851, there were Powers living in Ballykeroge, as shown in Griffith's Valuation:…

Note there's an Anastasia Power listed in Griffith's.  It's of interest that Patrick had a daughter Anastasia; perhaps the one in Griffith's was his mother?

  • THANK YOU, Eileen, Mary and Patricia!

All these pieces are helpful in solving the puzzle the Power/s family has left us.  Four of the children of Brigid Keane/Cane/Kane and Patrick Power immigrated in the 1890s to New York.  (Richard, John, James, Anastasia).  John was my g-grandfather.  He married a girl from Tipperary in St. Patricks Cathedral 1898.  Found her in the church in Newcastle, and her home in Rossmore (well, the house had been demolished and replaced by a utility pole).

Am looking forward to a short August visit in Ballykerogue/Kilrossanty/Kilmacthomas area (provided the Aer Lingus pilots are satisfied with negotiated benefits).

Our family appreciates your work!  Thank you!
HOpe you have a good summer!
