Apparently there were various families in the County.

Allman - John - Abbey - Burren Barony, Co. Clare

It would appear that John Allman had served in the 48th Regiment as a Captain. Reference in Clare Journal of July 4th 1836. He was at that time Magistrate for County Galway and residing in Eyrecourt, East, County Galway. Valuation of his house in Co. Clare in that year was £20.00.

Francis Allman - 1780 - 1860

Was Francis a brother of Captain John Allman of Eyrecourt, County Galway and Corranroo, Abbey, Burren Barony.  A John Allman was granted a marriage licence in Killaloe 1807. His intended - Hanah Daly.

Is this person the same as Captain John Allman?

The Waterford Mail newspaper of September 21st 1833 reported that Captain Allman of Eyrecourt had been appointed a Commissioner of Tithes, near Mallow. (Co. Cork).

Agent to The Lord Bishop of Clonfert and in 1831 was involved in notifying the local Magistrate of the shooting dead of a local man - "State of the Country" Outrages in County Galway 1831. In 1831 he purchased a piece of land on the shore in Corranroo, Parish of Abbey, Co. Clare between Ballyvaughan and Kinvara. He was appointed at Sole Commissioner of Tithes for the parish of Rosdale or Rossagh, near Doneraile, Co.Cork in 1833. Appointed as a Magistrate for County Galway in1833 He died in Corranroo in February 1840.

Marriages: It appears that he married a Hanah Daly in 1807. 

Family: Bessie - 2nd daughter of the late John Allman 48th Regiment. Marriage to Thomas Freer on November 13th 1841 in Eyrecourt.

George Frederick - marriage to Nicholina Seavers in Buffalo, New York - Armagh Guardian July24th 1852;

John - marriage to Agnes Donelan - Dublin Evening Mail January 9th 1857.

A Francis Allman is recorded in Tullywood, Eyrecourt in 1846.
