Greeetings from the South Pacific. I live on Bribie Island. Queensland Australia

I am searching for information about my grandmother, thought to be Bridget McGrath, born 10 February 1859 Catholic parish register microfilm 02471/10, Baptism Diocese of Killaloe.  Could this be the person known in Australia as Delia Agnes McGrath .This lady  married my grandfather Peter Bannah  giving her name as Delia Agnes McGrath, spinster from Newmarket Clare Ireland., The marriage was at  Maryborough Quensland Australia.23 December 1884 at St Mary's RC Church..

Despite years of investigation. I  have not been able to source any information about her, how she got to Australia, where she left from, and so on. Did Delia/Bridget imigrate to Australia as a servant to a family or under another name.

I have done a dna test which indicated I was related to Bernard McGrath born 1803 Newmarket Fergus Clare Died 11 Sept 1875 Newmarket Fergus.   and his wife Margaret Keogh B 18 Nov 1836 Newmarket Fergus Clare. She married Bernard 29 Nov 1851 Silver mines Tipp.

My GEDmatch Genesis DNA kit number is WU4027538   The kit has public access. Source is Ancestry. Perhaps some of the XO readers can use this info to come up with useful info..

Thank you for considering my requet. I would very much appreciate  any information you are able to offer. I am 86 years of age. With kind regards and best wishes.

The subscription site Roots Ireland shows a October 10 1853 baptismal record for a Mary McGrath with father Bernard McGrath and mother Margaret Keogh in Silvermines RC parish. I did not find the baptismal records for the sons.

If your 1865 marriage year is correct then I don't think the Delia Agnes McGrath is a child of Bernard and Margaret.

Your original message mentioned a Bridget McGrath baptized February 10 1859 and you list the code 02471/10  Can you tell me what parish the code refers to? I thought it might be Silvermines but the code for Silvermines is different. Thanks!

  • Hello Roger'

    Thank you for your response.

The info I have is Microfilm 02471/10 Diocese of KILLALOE.

    Is this of help.

When I did the DNA test with Ancestry.com the feed back through ThreLine was that I was related to Bernard Mcgrath with seven DNA matches, Bernard McGrath 1803-1875 and his wife Margaret Keogh 1836-1875

    Cheers
