Greetings from Melbourne Australia!
I am trying to locate any information about a Phillip Ryan, born approximately 1809, Upperchurch Tirrerary.
He was married to a Catherine Dwyer born approximately 1811 (place unknown) Phillip's death is registered as Death 13 Oct 1860, Carlton, Victoria, Australia
Child - Bridget Ryan (no other details)
Any details about Phillip Ryan and his family would be greatly appreciated!

You don’t say what year your ancestor emigrated, so this marriage record may be too late. Then again, perhaps not. Upperchurch is not far from the village of Moycarkey. I’m guessing Upperchurch was in the Catholic parish of Moycarkey.
Marriage: 25-Sep-1853
RC Parish MOYCARKEY, Co. Tipperary
Philip Ryan m. Catherine Dwyer
Witnesses: John Callaghan, Onny Dwyer

Hi Patricia,
Unfortunately I don't think that is a fit as it is too late. I have discovered another sibling for Bridget, Catherine, who was born in 1834 and would expect Philip and Catherine Dwyer married between 1829 and 1833 when Philip would have been roughly 20-25 years old.
I'm still looking for their immigration records.
Many thanks
Celeste

Paddy O this is awesome!!
So I am descended via Bridget Rafter née Ryan through my mothers Paternal grandfather, Andrew Thomas O'Connor who married Elizabeth Jane Agnes Rafter. Daughter of Joseph Henry Rafter and Bridget Ryan.
Bridget's sister Mary married a Rafter too which is interesting - I wonder if it was a brother? I know when JH Rafter gave the welcome to the Redmond brothers it was in "Gordon" a small town outside Ballarat. Do you hail from this area?
Do you have an info about Philip or Catherine's parents? Or any stories / history / what professionals they were in?
Many thanks for the names and dates.
Celeste

Gosh, so many questions! Don't suppose you know when Phillip and Catherine got married and where? Or any details when they arrived in Australia?

Hi Celeste,
Phillip & Catherine married in 1827 in Upperchurch. He was 19 and she was 16.
Phillip's father was Thomas and that's all l know about either side going back in time. Unfortunately l have no information on where Catherine was born or when either of them arrived in Australia.
The younger sister Mary who also married a Rafter was more than likely a brother to the one on your side, quite common back in those days. The Sly family were from Ballarat which also ties in with your reference to the township of Gordon.
Cheers
Paddy
