I know my grandfather, William Ryan, was born in Newry, as was his father, also William Ryan, baptised 02 Sept 1849.   I have just discovered that the father of this William Ryan was James Ryan, baptised 31 July 1824 and James married Elizabeth Barry on 24th Sept 1848 according to the Catholic Parish Registers.   So it looks like I have a Barry, typically from Co Cork among my ancestors.  All I can find out about Elizabeth Barry is that she was baptised on 2 July 1828 and her father was George Barry and her mother Catherine Galaher.    How might I trace any connections between these Barry ancestors and the Barrys further south?
