Looking into relatives of (Miss) Annie Armstrong, of the Railway Hotel, Lisburn, c.1850s - 1920s. In particular, the parents of two of her cousins: Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Smyth born 1871, Belfast, and her brother John Patrick Addison Smyth, born 1870, Belfast. Both were baptised in St Patrick's RC church, Belfast.
Their parents were William Addison Smyth, carpenter, died before 1901, and Eliza Jane Gallery.
Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) was living in Lisburn with Annie Armstrong in 1901, married Galway-born Andrew O'Connor in 1904, and moved from Lisburn to Cork then Galway. Her brother John also went to live with Annie Armstrong in 1894 when he was ill, and died in the Railway Hotel, Lisburn, in 1895 - I've found his obituary in the British Newspaper Archives, but not his death certificate.
My interest is that my grandfather James Joseph Brady, born Lisburn 1884, is also related to Annie Armstrong, and I'm trying to work out the connection through other - hopefully shared - relations.
so - any information on William Addison Smyth and his wife Eliza Jane Gallery is most appreciated

(from rootsireland)
Were these two children the siblings of Eliza Jane Gallery? If so, then Eliza’s mother was named Ann Armstrong. This Ann would not, of course, have been the Ann you are seeking; it is likely the Ann you are seeking was a niece of Eliza’s mother. And thus Eliza’s cousin.
I hope this helps!
