Good afternoon,
I know this is a long shot.
I am trying to trace the County my great great grandfather came from in Ireland. Arthur Finnegan born about 1838 in Ireland, it was confirmed in a Census, country of birth as Ireland but did not list what County. His parents were James and Mary Finnegan (nee Murphy). Both listed as deceased on marraige certificate 1880. James occupation was shown as a farmer.
Arthur died in Glasgow in 1911.
Regards,
George Curran

Hi Patricia,
What can I say, I am absolutely delighted with this information. As I have said before, what a service you provide.
My wee great granny Curran was a fantastic wee woman and a right character, Arthur Finnegan was her father and I have always hoped one day I would find out more about him.
Many thanks again
God bless

Hi George, Just want to make sure you saw that the mother's name was Elizabeth, not Mary, Murphy.
You could check Griffith's Valuation and the Tithe Applotments to see what Finnegans were in Upper Creggan and maybe find the name of the townland your family may have lived in.
Good luck!
Patricia
